The Inner Knowing in Prayer

Matthew 6:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 6 in context

Scripture Focus

7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Matthew 6:7-8

Biblical Context

Jesus warns against vain, repetitious prayer and says God already knows your needs before you ask. True prayer is inner alignment and trust, not endless words.

Neville's Inner Vision

Prayer is not a plea to a distant judge, but a return to the I AM that you are. The Father within knows your need before you voice it, so vain repetitions dissolve into the silence of assured being. When you speak from a state of unity, your imagination—your inner vision—shapes the conditions of your life. You are not asking God to supply a thing; you are awakening to the fact that you already possess the reality in consciousness, and the world follows your inner state. Therefore, the task is not to fill the air with words, but to assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled and to dwell there until it becomes your living sensation. Rest in quiet certainty, and let the outer scenes harmonize with that inner recognition. Your true petition is a recognition of your oneness with the divine mind.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, settle into the I AM within, and repeat silently: 'I am, and my needs are already fulfilled.' Then breathe into the feeling of completion for a minute.
