Two Masters, One I AM

Matthew 6:24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 6 in context

Scripture Focus

24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:24

Biblical Context

Matthew 6:24 states that you cannot serve two masters; you will cling to one and despise the other.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the inner-eye of Goddard, the 'two masters' are two states of consciousness competing for dominance. Mammon stands for the money-obsessed ego that fears lack; God is the I AM—your unconditioned awareness that creates by belief. You do not serve two deities, you are two possibilities you have not settled within. When you identify with lack or seek security in external things, you are bowing to mammon; when you awaken to I AM as your only reality, you submit to God. The choice is made not by outward acts but by inner feeling: what do you assume and feel as already true? The practical path is to assume the presence of God-harmony in every need, feel the wish fulfilled in that presence, and revision-wise, see the scene in which provision flows as a natural consequence of your sole allegiance. Then live from that conviction, and watch the outer world align with your inner identification. In short, you are choosing the master you consciously serve by the way you feel inside.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, breathe into the I AM, and revise any scene where wealth is demanded; feel it real that you have chosen God as your sole master.
