Inner Signs of the Times

Matthew 16:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Matthew 16 in context

Scripture Focus

2He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Matthew 16:2-3

Biblical Context

Jesus rebukes the crowd for reading the sky to predict weather while ignoring the deeper signs of the times; the verse asks for true discernment that begins with the inner state.

Neville's Inner Vision

Take the text as a map of consciousness. The red sky and the claims of morning or evening are not predictions about the external sky, but allegories of how you feel inside. When you say it will be fair weather because the sky is red, you affirm a state you already wear; when you forecast foul weather, you assign a future to your anxiety. The charge—you hypocrites—points to the discrepancy between your outer discernment and your inner readiness. To discern the times rightly, you must turn from the outward signs to the I AM within, the awareness that already knows the outcome. The times are not out there; they are the present revision you apply to your inner picture. Your responsibility is to align your inner state with the truth you seek. When you revise your state by imagining the fulfillment and feeling it as real, outer conditions follow the inward state, and the 'signs of the times' become confirmations of your grown consciousness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and, in the present moment, assume the feeling of the fulfilled desire. Then revise your inner scene until it feels true now, and let the outer world reflect that inner reality.
