Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Since all outward things are to be dissolved, we are called to live in holy conduct and godliness, while eagerly awaiting the day when God reveals Himself. Our inner posture defines the reality we experience.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the Neville ear, the dissolving of all these things is not a threat but an invitation: the outer scene of fading forms is the perfect mirror showing you where consciousness must move. The verse asks, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness? It is asking you to inhabit a new state of awareness, not to change the world by force but to change the inner law by which you live. The 'day of God' you seek is the realization that you are the I AM, that perception fashions the seen and that time is a tempo of your own imagining. 'The heavens being on fire' and 'the elements melt' symbolize the purifying heat by which old definitions of self and circumstance are melted away. When you persist in the feeling of the wish fulfilled, you are already in that day; your daily speech and sense of self align with holiness, and the outer dissolves to reflect your renewed inner state. Your practice is to assume and to hold steadily the new state until it feels real.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In the next few minutes, close your eyes and declare, "I am the I AM now; the day of God is unfolding within me." Hold the felt sense and revise any anxious thought by turning it into the blessing you desire.
