Scripture Focus

8I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.
Song of Solomon 5:8

Biblical Context

The speaker asks the daughters of Jerusalem to tell the beloved that she is sick with love. It vividly expresses a longing for intimate union with the beloved.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through Neville’s lens, the beloved is not a distant person but the state you call I AM—the presence of God within. The cry 'I am sick of love' signals a wakeful longing for reunion with that inner reality. The 'daughters of Jerusalem' are the many inner voices and habits that claim separation; they exist so you may choose differently. Rather than chasing an outside beloved, you are being invited to turn attention to your own awareness and claim the Beloved as present now. When you accept the beloved as already with you, the longing shifts from lack to recognition: you are the one who houses the beloved, and the beloved is your present consciousness. The law works by assumption: dwell in the feeling of the wish fulfilled, and the outer signs of love will align with your inner state.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, breathe, and assume the Beloved is here now. For five minutes, repeat softly, 'I am the Beloved; I am loved; we are one,' and let the feeling of union flood your awareness.
