11For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
12The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
13The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
Song of Solomon 2:11-13

Biblical Context

Winter passes and spring returns; the imagery signals inner renewal and an invitation to awaken to a new state of consciousness. The cry 'Arise, my love… and come away' invites you to leave the old self behind and enter a fresh act of creation.

Neville's Inner Vision

These verses present the inner weather of renewal. The winter you have endured, fearful or limited images, has passed; the rain you sought for cleansing is over and gone. The earth now flowers with your awakened faculties: perception becomes music, thoughts sing, and the senses carry the fragrance of right action. The fig tree and the vines symbolize your inner powers to bear fruit and to enjoy harmony; the green figs and tender grapes are your fresh manifestations when aligned with I AM. The voice of the turtle denotes a return of joy and peace to your land as you attend to your inner life. Then comes the cry, 'Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away' inviting you, the I AM in expression, to depart from the old state and enter a new creation. Remember: imagination precedes reality; you birth what you conceive and feel real in the now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine your inner landscape waking into spring. Silently declare 'Arise, I AM' and feel the renewal as already present.
