Becoming Instruments of Righteousness

Romans 6:12-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 6 in context

Scripture Focus

12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Romans 6:12-13

Biblical Context

Romans 6:12-13 urges you not to let sin reign in the mortal body and to yield your members to God as instruments of righteousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Seekers often suppose sin has power over them as external circumstance. In truth, Paul invites you to shift your inner state: you are not the obedient servant of lust or fear, but the I AM, the awareness that defines what you consider real. When you refuse to allow sin to reign in the body, you refuse to identify with its impulse. Your members—your hands, feet, tongue, eyes—are not mere appetite-driven tools; they are instruments you place at God’s disposal. To yield unto God is to align your whole being with the consciousness that is alive from the dead, the consciousness that declares, 'I exist as righteousness.' As you dwell in this state, every act becomes a prayer, every motion a way to express holiness. The inner shift is not a struggle; it is a revision of what you accept as true. You do not fight darkness; you shine by assuming the light of your true nature and letting it animate every action.

Practice This Now

Act now: close your eyes, assume the truth that you are alive from the dead and that your limbs are instruments of righteousness unto God. When urges arise, revise the scene by silently affirming, 'I yield to God in this moment—my body is His instrument.'
