Inner Lordship of Life Romans 14:7-9

Romans 14:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 14 in context

Scripture Focus

7For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Romans 14:7-9

Biblical Context

None of us lives or dies to himself; our life and death are lived unto the Lord, for Christ died and rose to be Lord of both the living and the dead.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, Romans 14:7-9 invites you to see life and death as states of consciousness under the one Lord you are. In the Neville mode, the 'I' that lives or dies is a single awareness, the I AM that animates all experience. To live unto the Lord is to align your present feeling and imagination with that eternal ruler within; to die unto the Lord is to release a former self-concept to the same sovereignty. Christ died and rose, not merely as a historical event, but as an inner movement by which consciousness awakens to its true sovereignty over every scene. When you acknowledge that the Lord of the living and the dead is the same Lord you are now, your thoughts, fears, and circumstances reorganize to reflect that truth. Your world becomes the visible expression of the inner recognition that you, as I AM, are Lord over both continuity and change. Practice this by feeling that every breath, every choice, and every ending is welcomed by the Lord who lives in you.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume the sentence, 'I am the Lord of my life; I live and die unto the Lord.' Hold this as real for a few minutes, revising any fear or limitation into that sovereign truth.
