Inner Kingdom Peace

Romans 14:17-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 14 in context

Scripture Focus

17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
Romans 14:17-18

Biblical Context

The kingdom of God is not about external meals or rituals but inner righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Serving Christ, then, comes from dwelling in these inner states, which makes you acceptable to God and approved by others.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the kingdom as your own consciousness, where righteousness, peace, and joy are not earned by rules but registered as your living condition. The Holy Spirit is the atmosphere within you, the constant I AM in which you exist. When you hear 'not meat and drink', hear it as the shift from outward observances to an inner alignment. You are not seeking; you are recognizing a state that already is. If you notice turmoil in the body or mind, revise: 'I am now dwelling in righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.' Your attention, lovingly steadied, becomes the leaven that lifts your whole experience. As you hold this state, actions that serve Christ arise naturally—gentleness, patience, kindness—because they bloom from the right inner condition, not from struggle to perform. The world will reflect this inward reign, for men’s approval follows the brightness of your inner state. God, the I AM within, welcomes you into this reign; your task is to keep returning to it, feeling it as real, until it dominates your days.

Practice This Now

Practice: close your eyes, breathe, and assume the present-tense state, 'The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.' Feel it as already mine.
