The Inner Kingdom of Peace

Romans 14:16-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 14 in context

Scripture Focus

16Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
Romans 14:16-18

Biblical Context

It warns not to let your good be spoken of as evil. It declares the kingdom of God to be inner righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice that the verse does not speak of external meals or rules but of a state of consciousness. The 'kingdom of God' is the inner righteousness, the peaceful center, the joyous energy that I am in the Holy Spirit. When you align with this inner state, your good is not to be judged by outward appearances; you serve Christ in the movement of right action that flows from that inner light. Do not fear being misunderstood by the world; as you dwell in the feeling of being righteous, at peace, and filled with joy, you are acceptable to God and approved by men because you are now the living embodiment of the gospel. The world will respond to the presence you emit, not the name you wear. So I remind you: the kingdom is within; choose its atmosphere now, and let your life attest to it through calm acts, kind words, and a steadfast, grateful heart.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost; feel it real now, and act from that inner posture throughout the day.
