Biblical Context
The verse calls you to work with energy and zeal, and to orient all activity toward serving the Lord. It treats daily labor as an outer expression of inner devotion.
Neville's Inner Vision
Rise in your awareness and hear the command as a condition of your very being. Not slothful in business is not a call to toil alone, but a remark about the state from which you perform. If you imagine yourself as the I AM, the energy behind every action becomes deliberate and bright. When you are fervent in spirit, you are not chasing outer excitement; you are keeping a flame of conviction at the center of consciousness, and that flame radiates through every task, decision, and encounter. Serving the Lord means aligning your work with the truth you know in your own heart, treating your desk, colleagues, and aims as expressions of the divine will you are already. In this sense, the ‘Lord’ is not distant but within your own awareness, a living I AM you. Your job becomes worship when you refuse limitation as real and dwell in the assumption that you are always the active, creative presence behind it all.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Tonight, close your eyes, breathe, and declare, 'I am the I AM now in diligent service.' Tomorrow, carry that feeling into every task as if the Lord is guiding your work through you.
