Biblical Context
Revelation 20:6 declares a blessed and holy company who partake in the first resurrection, immune to the second death, and who shall serve as priests of God and Christ, reigning with Him for a thousand years. This points to a spiritual state of renewal and authority within the inner life, not merely a future event.
Neville's Inner Vision
To me, the vision of Revelation 20:6 speaks of the inner awakening that occurs when a man or woman discovers the I AM within and thereby parts from the old, fearful self. The first resurrection is not a history lesson but a shift in consciousness: you rise into a state where you know yourself as God’s priest, consecrated to the divine service, and sovereign in your own mind. The second death—the end of preference for limitation—exerts no power over one who now lives in the awareness of the One. Note that it is not primarily a future epoch but a present transformation in perception: to reign with Him for a thousand years is to dwell in the steady kingdom of the I AM, where thoughts and feelings align with God’s will. This is the moment you become immune to fear, to doubt, to the old sense of separation, and you are crowned with holiness as you practice daily the posture of the awakened, imagining your life from the end rather than the beginning.
Practice This Now
Assume the condition: I am blessed and holy, part of the first resurrection, immune to the second death; I reign with God in the kingdom within. Feel it-real by closing your eyes, breathing, and repeating this priestly stance for a few minutes.
