Whispers of Inner Babylon
Revelation 17:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Revelation 17 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage exposes an inner condition: a seductive false worship that lures the mind toward power and pleasure outside itself. Judgment comes as a shift in consciousness, revealing that true power rests in the I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
In your inner theater, the great harlot is not a person or place, but a state of consciousness that enthralls the senses with the wine of external control. The waters she sits upon are the multiplying thoughts and conditioned beliefs that seem to hold you in bondage. When the kings of the earth—your proud plans, schedules, and identities—drink from her cup, you forget who you truly are and mistake sensation for reality. Yet the angel's coming is a summons to return to the one Source within: the I AM that experiences, witnesses, and commands your world. The judgment she receives is simply a releasing of belief in separation; it is not punishment but recognition that you have dreamed the world into being with your attention. As you identify with awareness rather than with the role of the drunk driver of your life, you repeal the deception. In that quiet, your imagination begins to redraw the landscape: you feel the throne of your own consciousness, and the "wine" loses its power because you now know you are the governor, not the vessel.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and revise any scene where you feel bound by worldly powers. Assume the feeling 'I am the I AM' and imagine yourself seated on the throne of your own consciousness, declaring that you govern your life through awareness.
