Biblical Context
Psalm 91:3 promises protection from hidden traps and deadly plagues. It speaks of deliverance as a spiritual reality present to the mindful.
Neville's Inner Vision
When I remember that the snare of the fowler is a belief, not a man, I am delivered in the awareness of the I AM within me. The psalm is not asking a distant power to intervene; it is awakening to the fact that I am that I AM, the presence that governs my world. In this light, fear loosens its grip and traps dissolve as illusions under the glare of consciousness. Deliverance becomes a present recognition: I am already protected by the inner government of God within me, the omnipresent awareness that never slumbers. The fowler's snares are only thoughts that arise and fade when I dwell in that identity. By affirming my unity with the I AM, I revise the impression of danger and discover that the noisome pestilence is simply a word I no longer inhabit. Providence becomes my constant companion, guiding steps, guarding moods, and delivering me from imagined harm, here and now.
Practice This Now
Imaginative practice: Close your eyes, breathe, and declare, 'I AM the deliverer now; I am held by the I AM.' Sink into a felt sense of protection as a radiant shield surrounding you.
