The verse states that those who plot harm are trapped by the traps they themselves set; their own devices catch their feet.
Neville's Inner Vision
Psalm 9:15 may be heard as a reminder that the so-called enemies are not distant rulers, but inward states. The heathen are sunk in the pit they made, and their net catches their own foot, because every outer event mirrors a preceding inner posture. In Neville’s terms, the I AM is the only governor, the awareness that can lay down any judgment and unbind any trap. When I identify with a fear-driven story—someone is against me, a conspiracy, a fall—I'm not discovering a world apart from my mind; I am proving the law by assuming a past-tense reality. If I accept the self-accusing voice as true, I plant the pit; if I revise it by assuming the opposite state, the net dissolves and the foot frees. Hence, I do not fight enemies outside; I re-create my inner scene until the outer scene corresponds. The judgment of the psalmist becomes a gentle invitation: awaken to the fact that you are the I AM, and your circumstances are but the echo of your inner assumption. The kingdom is within; the traps vanish as belief shifts.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the I AM as your permanent state. Revise the scene by affirming, I am at peace and free, and feel it real until the outer appearances reflect your inner harmony.
