Read Psalms 89 in context

Scripture Focus

35Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.
36His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.
37It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.
Psalms 89:35-37

Biblical Context

God swore a holy oath that David's line will endure forever, and his throne will stand before God as the sun; the sun and moon witness this forever in heaven.

Neville's Inner Vision

To read this psalm is to enter the inner courtroom of your own consciousness. The 'holy oath' is not a contract written in time but a conviction established in your I AM—your present awareness that cannot lie to itself. David's seed becomes the inward idea you hold as living image, the line of right desire that persists when circumstances tempt forgetfulness. The throne is your center, the will you sit upon in your inner kingdom, forever established by the fidelity of awareness. When the verse speaks of the sun and moon, imagine your thoughts and feelings rising and resting with divine witnesses—constant, unchanging, faithful testimonies in your inner heavens. If you doubt, you are not doubting a history but interrupting the oath; revise until the sense of permanence returns. This is the kingdom of God within: a state of consciousness where you are true to the I AM and the I AM responds by manifesting your embodied world to reflect your inner covenant. Your task is to dwell in the assurance that you are kept by holiness, now, not someday.

Practice This Now

Assume the I AM as holy truth and feel it real now: 'I am forever true to the I AM.' Then revise any doubt by affirming the throne of your consciousness as established and watch for a change in your outer experience.
