6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

Psalms 83:6-8

Biblical Context

The passage lists nations and peoples arrayed as adversaries, symbolizing widespread opposition to God's people. It presents a moment of contemplation as these 'foes' are named, inviting reflection on conflict and judgment.

Neville's Inner Vision

All the listed nations are but states of mind opposing your awareness of the I AM. Edom, Ishmaelites, Moab, Hagarenes, Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, the Philistines, Tyre, Assur—these are not separate tribes across a map; they are the habitual thoughts, fears, and doubts that rise to tell you 'you are not enough,' you are separate from God. They join in a chorus that supports the old exile of Lot's descendants in your memory, a past identification that would have you look outward for safety. But the Kingdom of God is never outside; it is the air of your own consciousness when you declare I AM as your permanent reality. When you refuse to fight these images and instead assume the opposite—that you are one with the Infinite—you dissolve their power. The Selah invites a pause to let the new state sink in. This is a call to revision: replace the picture of siege with the singular, all-encompassing Presence. By living from the I AM, you greet the so-called enemies as tokens of images that have nothing to do with your true Self.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, breathe, and assume, 'I am the I AM.' Then revise by envisioning the hostile images dissolving into light as you feel Kingdom real.
