Defending the Inner House
Psalms 83:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Psalms 83 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse describes rulers scheming to possess the holy places of God. It frames this as a spiritual challenge to the sanctified mind.
Neville's Inner Vision
All that psalm calls enemies is not distant armies but currents within the mind that seek to possess the holy space of consciousness. Oreb, Zeeb, Zebah, and Zalmunna become images of pride, hunger, and the impulse to own the sanctuary of truth. They speak the line let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession, which is the old dream of power over awareness. In truth, you are the I AM, the living temple, and nothing can own or invade it except the belief that it can. The inner approach to deliverance is not by resistant conflict but by rediscovering that the sanctuary is already yours by your very awareness. When you turn attention inward and dwell as the I AM, the plots dissolve into noise, and their rulers melt like mist. The act of assuming the reality of your own sacred dwelling is the only battle you need, and it is finished in consciousness.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of being the I AM and declare the inner sanctuary safe; feel it real as you affirm that no thought or power can own your consciousness. Then revise any memory of threat by repeating that the houses of God are yours by divine awareness.
