Biblical Context
Psalm 78:5-8 speaks of God establishing a law to be taught to the next generation so they may place their hope in God, remember His works, keep His commandments, and avoid a stubborn, unsteady heart.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the inner drama of your life, the 'testimony' and 'law' are the convictions you hold in the I AM. When you imagine Jacob and Israel, you are not recounting history but forming the steady state of your mind. Pass the covenant to your future generations by repeatedly rehearsing the inner commandments until they become your habitual perception. To set your hope in God is to align your attention with the constant presence of the I AM within you, and to remember not as memory of facts but as felt experiences you can access now. The stubborn, rebellious generation is simply a state of resistance in consciousness; when doubt arises, you can revise by affirming that God's works are present as living results in your life. By assuming the law exists now, by feeling the works as real, you draw your next experiences into harmony with the inner decree. Your outer world follows from this inner keeping of covenant, so your future is a continuation of your present alignment.
Practice This Now
Assume the inner testimony is true now: feel your heart settle, and declare to your imagined future that you will remember God and keep His commandments today.
