Scripture Focus

18Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
Psalms 71:18

Biblical Context

The psalmist asks God not to forsake him in old age so he may reveal God’s strength and power to this generation and to those who will come after.

Neville's Inner Vision

Let this line be read as a statement of consciousness. In Neville’s fashion, aging is not a decline but a deepening state of awareness in which the I AM reveals what you have always known: that God’s strength is available to every renewal of consciousness. 'Forsake me not' is a pledge that your attention will stay awake to the inner power, not drift into lack. 'Until I have shown thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come' means you, the I AM, cultivate inner acts that uplift the next inner generation: the next mental conditioning, the next circle of awareness. By imagining and feeling the evidence of Providence and Guidance, you invite your life to become a conduit of divine might for all who come after. Your perseverance is not outward toil but persistent attention to the truth that you are one with God, and your demonstrations become the inner model for others to imitate. Move forward with dignity, knowing you are shaping a lineage of faith through your present assumption.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume you have already shown God's strength to this generation; feel it real as you repeat, 'I am the strength of God, revealing through me to the next generation,' visualizing younger faces receiving courage.
