Scripture Focus

1O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Psalms 63:1-2

Biblical Context

Psalm 63:1-2 speaks of longing for God and seeking His presence, even in a dry land. The psalmist desires to see God's power and glory as he once did in the sanctuary.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, in the Neville lens, this psalm reveals that God is not outside but within. The 'early' seeking is the discipline of turning attention to the I AM, the awareness that you are not dry but simply momentarily unaware. The 'dry and thirsty land' is a consciousness devoid of vivid inner water until you remember that the sanctuary is where power and glory are revealed. When you fix your attention on the I AM, thirst dissolves into a rising sense of presence; seeing 'the power and thy glory' becomes an inner vision rather than an external event. The sanctuary is your inner state of consciousness in which God is manifested as awareness, your true self. The verse invites you to revise the scene: from lack to fullness by assuming you already are in the sanctuary, and that the power you seek is your own awareness expressing itself. Imagination creates reality; begin with a firm assumption of presence, and allow the emotional energy of gratitude and awe to flow as if you were already there.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume, 'I am in the sanctuary now.' Feel the water of life reviving you, and repeat 'I AM' until your sense of dryness dissolves into presence.
