Morning Dominion Of Imagination

Psalms 49:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 49 in context

Scripture Focus

14Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
Psalms 49:14

Biblical Context

Psalm 49:14 speaks of death's claim on the old self, but the morning brings the upright into dominion as the new state of consciousness; the old beauty fades in the grave of forgotten patterns.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM, the 'sheep laid in the grave' are states of consciousness, not bodies. Death feeding on them is the old fears and identifications being fed by attention. The 'upright' is the living alignment with the true self—the I AM. In the 'morning' of awakened awareness, this upright state asserts dominion and rearranges appearances by changing inner conditions. The line about beauty consuming in the grave means that once a state is no longer cherished in imagination, its former glory dissolves from its habitual dwelling. The verse is an invitation to revise your sense of self, to awaken from the dream of separation, and to let the morning of consciousness govern all you experience. Your outer world reflects the inner state you inhabit; your job is to keep the living I AM present, especially as you rise into a new day.

Practice This Now

As you wake, assume the feeling of the I AM already in dominion; revise the old sense of a dying self into a living, upright consciousness, and feel the morning light as your new state manifesting.
