5They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
Psalms 48:5

Biblical Context

Observers are struck by something powerful or sacred and feel awe. They become unsettled and hurry away.

Neville's Inner Vision

To you, this line is not a history of men fleeing a campsite, but a map of consciousness. 'They saw it' is your inner sight catching a reality your habit of mind has yet to own. Marvel is the soul’s astonishment at the presence of the I AM, a recognition that shifts the inner weather. 'They were troubled' reveals how fear, doubt, or judgment arise when the old self resists this new awareness. And 'hasted away' shows how quickly you retreat into familiar scripts when confronted by power that you have not yet claimed as yours. But the key is not their outward behavior, but your inward posture: when you allow the Presence to be real in you, your inner city does not scatter; it settles. Your belief creates the scene; your feeling draws the event. So, you return to the awareness that God is the I AM within, not something outside to chase. Practice believing that the marvel you witnessed is your own condition now, and the fear dissolves as you stand in that Presence.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, assume you are the Presence now, and repeat 'I AM the Presence' until wonder replaces fear. Feel the inner light settle in your chest.
