Psalms 47:5-7

Biblical Context

The psalm pictures God ascending in triumph and the Lord as King over the earth, inviting all to praise with understanding. It calls the heart to acknowledge the inner sovereignty of God and to praise from that knowing.

Neville's Inner Vision

Take Psalms 47:5-7 as a revelation of your inner king. God is gone up with a shout—the I AM within you ascending in awareness. The LORD with the sound of a trumpet is the inner call to attention, the moment you turn your gaze from doubt to the truth you are the beloved, sovereign consciousness. To sing praises to God and to our King is to align your thoughts with the fact that the earth is under the rule of the I AM within you. God is the King of all the earth; therefore the scene you call 'worldly' is already under inner jurisdiction. Sing ye praises with understanding means you praise with the assurance that your assumption, held in feeling, is the reality. Do not seek the kingdom outside; feel the reign inside, and let your life echo that sovereignty.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and place a hand on your chest, declaring, 'I AM the King of my life.' Feel the trumpet of awareness expanding and let your inner sovereignty reign in the present moment.
