Inner Peace Ends All Wars

Psalms 46:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus

9He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
Psalms 46:9

Biblical Context

Psalm 46:9 presents God as ending wars and destroying weapons, a metaphor for the inner cessation of conflict. It invites us to seek peace within our own awareness.

Neville's Inner Vision

I do not interpret the verse as a history lesson but as a clause of consciousness. God makes wars cease in the end of the earth meaning that in my own awareness all battle ends when I hold the I AM as the ruler of my thoughts. The bow, the spear, and the chariot are the weapons of doubt, fear, and argument—once I notice them, they dissolve in the flame of attention turned to stillness. When I imagine from the I AM that the conflict is over, the image of separation loses its charge; the inner army collapses, and peace becomes the atmosphere I breathe. This is not permission to escape the world, but a shift of focus from struggle to unity, from reaction to response. The kingdom of God is within, and the end of war is the end of a particular drama inside me. As I dwell in the awareness that God is my own consciousness, every external clamor loses its claim; a renewal occurs, like dawn breaking over a quiet sea.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare, 'There is no war in my mind; I AM peace now.' Hold that feeling for five minutes, watching the mental images of weapons dissolve into light and calm.
