Inner Throne of Righteousness

Psalms 45:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 45 in context

Scripture Focus

6Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Psalms 45:6-7

Biblical Context

The psalm describes an eternal throne and a just scepter, beloved by God for righteousness. It speaks of the anointing with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within me the throne described in the psalm is not a place in time but the steadfast awareness I am. The God of this passage is the I AM within me, the consciousness upon which all states—fears, hopes, triumphs—rise and pass. The right sceptre represents a correct ruling principle: thoughts that align with justice, mercy, and harmony. When I attune to love righteousness and hate wickedness, God, my God, anoints me with the oil of gladness, lifting my sense of self above mere circumstance and above my fellows in the sense of comparison, not hierarchy. The anointing is inner grace, not external favor; it makes my inner government gentle yet sovereign. The eternal throne endures because it rests in the unchanging I AM, not in transient events. As I dwell in this consciousness, my choices become acts of righteousness, and the Kingdom within unfolds as peace, grace, and flourishing outcomes. I am the king of this inner realm, ruling with wisdom, compassion, and joy.

Practice This Now

Sit in quiet and assume the I AM is reigning now. See a right sceptre in your hand and feel the oil of gladness pouring over you; revise any lack by affirming, 'I lack nothing, I am fullness in this moment.'
