Biblical Context
The verse rejects reliance on outward weapons and points to inner trust as the source of salvation.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the line not as a historical stance about weaponry, but as a declaration of consciousness. I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me—means I refuse to let external means pretend to be the source of security. In Neville’s sense, God is the I AM within; imagination is the instrument by which reality is formed. If you depend on arms, you are clinging to a temporary, changing state of fear. When you turn away from the bow and sword, you invite the inner Light to govern your affairs. Providence and guidance are not distant interventions but the ongoing activity of awareness that perceives, decides, and sustains. Salvation comes as you align with the inner self that has no need of weapons to defend or advance. The inner man knows the way because the I AM is already aware of the path and the outcome, even when appearances scream otherwise. So you practice by assuming you are already guided, imagining the solution and feeling the reality of protection from within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative_act: Close your eyes and assume the feeling 'I am the I AM; within me all safety is known.' Then imagine a warm inner light guiding you through your day, with every step aligned to that light.
