Biblical Context
Psalm 40:9-10 speaks of openly proclaiming righteousness, faithfulness, salvation, lovingkindness, and truth before a great congregation, and not hiding these gifts in the heart.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the great congregation not as a crowd outside you but as the many states of consciousness within you. To 'preach righteousness' is to consciously align every part of your being with the truth you know as I AM. When you say 'thou knowest,' you acknowledge that God—the I AM in you—witnesses your every feeling and thought. To not hide righteousness within your heart is to stop concealing your inner faculties from yourself; to declare faithfulness and salvation is to hold in mind the feeling of wholeness and deliverance as already achieved. The 'lovingkindness and thy truth' are the warm, faithful ways you express to yourself and others as the inner world reflects your state. By choosing to proclaim these qualities, you are not seeking outer approval but confirming your own inner state; reality follows your assumption, because imagination fashions being into doing. This is the core of Neville's practice: feel it real, live from the I AM, and the outer scene will respond.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, in your mind, stand before the inner congregation and declare: 'I am righteousness; I speak truth; I am faithful and saved.' Then dwell in the feeling that the I AM witnesses this declaration and that your outer life now reflects it.
