Inner Victory Over Boasts
Psalms 35:25 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Psalms 35 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse asks that the heart not entertain the enemy’s boast of victory over him. It rejects the sense that he has been swallowed up.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville, the Psalmist’s cry is a call to guard the state of consciousness, not to appease external enemies. 'Let them not say in their hearts' is the inner boast that tries to declare victory over you, as if your life were at its mercy. When you hear, 'Ah, so would we have it,' do not argue with the world outside; revise the statement inwardly. The line 'We have swallowed him up' shows how a fearful thought pretends to consume you. Your work is to refuse that image by holding the I AM—the endless awareness that you are—before your mind's eye. Assume the feeling of being held by Providence, and let the imagined boast vanish as you dwell in that certitude. Rest in the sense that you cannot be swallowed by any fear, for life is God and God is Life within you. If you persist in that state, outward appearances will realign to reflect your inner peace, and the sense of having been overcome will dissolve into triumph.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM now. When the inner boast arises, revise it to 'I cannot be swallowed; I am held by Providence' and feel that certainty saturate you.
