Biblical Context
Psalm 3:6 proclaims the speaker's choice not to fear, even when confronted by many enemies encircling him.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Psalm, the crowd is not a political danger but the swarm of thoughts and memory-images that threaten your peace. You stand in the I AM, the conscious awareness that cannot be moved by appearances. When you align with the I AM and dwell in the endowment of peace, fear of numbers or circumstances decreases, because the external world is only the outpicturing of your inner state. The phrase 'ten thousand' becomes a symbolic multiplicity of thoughts, doubts, and past conditions that would have you identify with lack. You affirm: I am not afraid; I am already the fulfillment of safety. Through the discipline of revision—seeing the scene as resolved in your inner vision, and feeling it-real in the heart—you awaken a constant sense of sovereignty, and the surrounding 'they' surrender their grip. Your independent reality arises from inner awareness, and fear dissolves as you continually claim and dwell in that which you are.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling: I am not afraid. Sit quietly, close your eyes, and imagine the crowd dissolving into peaceful light around you; rest in the presence of the I AM until fear relinquishes its hold.
