Read Psalms 26 in context

Scripture Focus

2Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
3For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.
Psalms 26:2-3

Biblical Context

The psalmist asks for divine inspection of his heart and motives. He vows to live under mercy and truth.

Neville's Inner Vision

Truth here is not a subject to be sought outside, but a state of consciousness you enter. 'Examine me' is an invitation to the I AM within to reveal the inner weather of your mind. When you hear 'prove me' you hear the demand to align the texture of your thoughts and feelings with your desired reality. 'Try my reins and my heart' means test the motive and intention behind every impulse—are they governed by love and kindness, or by fear and lack? The phrase 'thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes' becomes a practice: keep mercy in your field of vision as you live. And 'I have walked in thy truth' becomes a present affirmation: you are already the person who acts in integrity, you simply revision your inner state to match it. In this way the psalm becomes a manual of inner discipline: notice the movement of consciousness, revise, and condition yourself to be ruled by grace and truth.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise your inner state: affirm 'I am the I AM, living in mercy and truth,' and feel the reality of that state now. Let that felt truth guide your next moment.
