Biblical Context
The passage rejoices in salvation and declares faith in God's support, promising that petitions will be fulfilled; it also asserts that the Lord saves His anointed and hears prayers from heaven.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this inner psalm, the 'LORD' is not a distant deity but the I AM presence within you. To 'rejoice in thy salvation' is to dwell in the awareness that you are already saved by the right hand of your own consciousness—the saving power of your imaginal act. When you declare 'in the name of our God we set up our banners,' you are lifting up banners of identity—asserting that you are one with the divine nature that never negotiates with lack. The line 'the LORD fulfil all thy petitions' teaches that to petition is to align your inner state with its fulfilled version; the universe (your awareness) responds in kind as you assume the feeling that your desires are already done. 'Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed' points to the moment you realize your higher self is saved, protected, and sustained by that inner savior. The 'saving strength of his right hand' is your imagination's active power, the law you wield when you will and feel and persist. This psalm invites a present, experiential trust, not a future hope.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are already saved. Feel the fulfillment as you imagine raising a banner of your true identity in the heart of your mind.
