The Inner Portion Revealed

Psalms 16:4-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 16 in context

Scripture Focus

4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
5The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
Psalms 16:4-5

Biblical Context

Those who chase after other gods multiply their sorrows. The LORD is the speaker's portion and sustainer, keeping their lot secure.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you is the I AM, the Lord of your inward country. When you hurry after another god—fear, lack, or the opinions of others—you set up substitutes for the One Presence, and sorrow multiplies because you feed images instead of the living reality of your unity with God. The 'drink offerings of blood' symbolizes rituals and attachments that pretend to satisfy you while you dwell in separation. Wake to the truth that 'the LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup' and you shift from outward striving to inward rest. Your true inheritance is awareness itself; your cup is your perception, and God maintains your lot as you hold that awareness steady. If you align with this truth now, your outer world reorganizes to reflect the harmony of your inner state. The sense of separation dissolves as you dwell in the I AM and permit Providence to unfold through you, rather than through external acts.

Practice This Now

Practice: Assume the truth 'The LORD is my portion' as a present fact and feel it real in your chest for five minutes. See the urge to chase other gods fade and let Providence express through your awareness.
