Biblical Context
Psalm 150:1-5 calls us to praise the LORD in his sanctuary and in the firmament of his power, using various instruments to express praise for his mighty acts and greatness.
Neville's Inner Vision
View the text as a map of your own consciousness. The sanctuary is the place you are aware, the I AM waking in you; the firmament of power is the vibrational atmosphere you inhabit by attention. When the psalm invites praise for his mighty acts and excellent greatness, it is inviting you to recognize the acts already accomplished by your awareness—the moment you turn to the I AM and acknowledge it. The sounds—trumpet, psaltery, harp, timbrel, dance, strings, organs, cymbals—are symbolic faculties within you: speech and proclamation (trumpet), harmony and memory (psaltery/harp), motion and joy (timbrel/dance), sustained resonance (strings/organs), and bright, decisive affirmation (cymbals). To praise is to align with your true nature and to feel, as if it were real now, that you are the power that acts. As you dwell in this inner worship, you release the sense of separation and enter the sensation of God’s presence here and now.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are already in the sanctuary of your mind; feel the I AM within you and let gratitude surge as if it is real now. Imagine each instrument awakening a faculty of imagination, and dwell in the felt sense that you are the power being praised.
