Psalms 144:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 144 in context

Scripture Focus

1Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
2My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
Psalms 144:1-2

Biblical Context

The psalm blesses the Lord as strength, trainer of my hands, and as fortress, shield, and deliverer who subdues my enemies. It expresses trust that inner power sustains and defends the speaker.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you, the word LORD is the I AM that never changes. Strength is not a muscle, but a state of consciousness. When you say Blessed be the I AM my strength, you are naming the inner power that teaches your hands to war—your deeds to arise from quiet certainty—and your fingers to fight—your thoughts and actions aligned with intention. Your goodness is the fortress you carry, the high tower from which you observe without fear, and your deliverer whose aid appears as soon as you accept that you are already protected. The shield is your right to say yes to what harmonizes, and the one in whom you trust is your own awareness, the I AM that never leaves you. When you shift into this state, the 'people' that press upon you—doubt, lack, fatigue—are subdued under your discipline of consciousness. This is not conquest by force but governance by imagination: you imagine yourself already delivered, already defended, already standing in triumph.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the I AM presence as your power; repeat I AM strength, I AM fortress, and feel the presence guiding your hands and shielding you.
