The psalmist recalls God's past works, meditates on divine acts, and asks for guidance and help. He affirms trust that God will lead his steps.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the inner calendar of the I AM, memory is not a record of outward events but a reclaiming of states of consciousness. When I say, I remember the days of old, I am remembering the states in which I stood awake to God, and I turn my attention to the works of the One within me. Meditating on thy works becomes an insistence that the Creative Mind is active now, shaping each perception, every encounter as the hands of the divine in my life. The thirst of the soul is a thirst for the living presence; as I stretch forth my hands, I reach for the source that feeds my very being. Hear me speedily is a petition to align my breath with the divine immediacy, not a plea for time to pass—but for awareness to awaken. If my spirit faileth, I claim the promise: the I AM does not hide its face. In the morning, hearing lovingkindness becomes a felt sense of safety; to know the way I should walk is to know the way I am willing to walk in this moment, lifting my soul unto the divine I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume the state 'I AM the way and the guide,' letting it feel real in your chest. Then proceed to the morning practice of listening for the sense of divine kindness as you lift your soul to the I AM.
