Psalms 143:1-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 143 in context

Scripture Focus

1Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.
2And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.
3For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.
4Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.
Psalms 143:1-4

Biblical Context

The speaker pleads for God to hear and answer according to divine faithfulness and righteousness, asking not to be judged, and describing persecution, darkness, and an overwhelmed spirit that desolates the heart.

Neville's Inner Vision

This psalm is a rite of inner awakening. 'Hear my prayer' is a turning of attention to the I AM within, the unchanging source of your life. 'In thy faithfulness' and 'in thy righteousness' invite you to align your present state with divine law, trusting that consciousness responds from its own steadfast nature rather than from outward circumstance. 'Enter not into judgment with thy servant' teaches you to suspend self-condemnation; justification is not earned by works but recognized in the sight of God within. When the enemy persecutes and darkness presses, remember these are movements of mind, not facts of your true being. You can reverse them by dwelling in the awareness that you are the I AM, already justified by divine life, already delivered by inner light. The desolate heart is a call to shift from fear to steadfast faith, letting the inner righteousness rise and restore peace. In this light, suffering becomes a signal to awaken to the truth of your eternal, unassailable self.

Practice This Now

Assume the state that you are already heard and answered by the I AM in faithfulness and righteousness; then feel the inner light rise and let the sense of persecution dissolve, replaced by peace.
