Scripture Focus

1Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
Psalms 140:1

Biblical Context

The verse is a plea for rescue from an evil and violent person, asking for protection and preservation.

Neville's Inner Vision

Psalm 140:1 recasts the cry as a state of consciousness, not a geography. The 'evil man' and 'violent man' are the images of threat that arise in the mind. To deliver yourself, you must shift into the I AM—the perpetual awareness that you are, and that which protects. Assume you are already under that protection; imagine the I AM surrounding you, preserving every move. Speak from that state: I AM delivered; I AM preserved by the I AM now. The feeling of danger dissolves as belief in your inviolable presence strengthens. In this revision, you do not beg for rescue but align with your true nature, and the external scene adjusts to fit the inner reality. The psalmist's plea becomes a practical method: revise the scene, dwell in the I AM, and let the sense of safety become your constant condition.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, breathe, and assume the I AM as your surrounding presence. Repeat, 'I AM delivered and preserved now,' and feel the protective light enfolding you.
