The verse invites believers to lift their hands in the sanctuary as an act of praise. It directs the worshiper to bless the LORD.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here, the sanctuary is not a place of stone but the interior of your awareness where you stand as I AM. Lifting the hands is a movement of attention, a surrender of control to the conscious state of blessing that already dwells within you. When you bless the LORD, you bless the very presence you are aware of—the I AM that 'knows' before any words are spoken. The act is of consciousness, not a ritual performed on the outside; the word 'LORD' names consciousness itself. By imagining that you are already blessed, you align with the reality you seek. The inner sanctuary answers not from without but from within, as you maintain the feeling of gratitude, reverence, and spacious knowing. The lifting is an outward signal of an inward decision: to dwell in blessing, to inhabit the state of refuge where God is your own awareness. In this way, prayer becomes an assurance rather than a plea, a reorientation of your mind to the truth that all blessing flows from the I AM.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and raise your hands (physically or in imagination) in the sanctuary of your mind. Repeat 'I bless the LORD within' and feel the blessing as already real.
