Biblical Context

Psalm 115:5-7 exposes idols as things with senses that are dead and powerless. The living God sits within, and true life comes by turning from idol forms to the I AM within.

Neville's Inner Vision

These words strip idols of any real efficacy by naming their senses without life. They have mouths, but they speak not—your mind may utter many words about power, but idol words are empty until you awaken the I AM behind them. They have eyes, but they see not—image and form cannot reveal truth; inner sight comes only when you recognize that sight and light rise from within. They have ears, but they hear not—true hearing is obedience to the quiet voice of being, not the clamor of the world. They have hands, but they handle not; feet, but they walk not—external things can appear to move your life, yet movement of life is always born of your state of consciousness. The psalm invites you to drop the worship of inert matter and attend to the living Presence within. Real life flows when you do not serve idols but realize that God, the I AM, dwells in you and animates all your acts. Your world is but the outward sign of an inner state; awaken the state and the world obeys.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and assume the living I AM within you now; feel it as a steady inner light. When idol images arise, revise to 'I am the Presence here and now' and let that truth animate your next moment.
