Psalms 113:5-6

Biblical Context

God is described as dwelling on high, and He humbles Himself to behold heaven and earth. The passage invites us to consider the dignity of humble, attentive awareness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Verse 5–6 presents the God of the psalms as the I AM who dwells above all, and as the one who lowers Himself to regard heaven and earth. In Neville fashion, the high God is not distant but the very consciousness you ARE. The inner meaning is that awareness can stand in a state of exalted perception, while remaining tenderly attentive to every detail of your world. When you claim the lordship of your own mind, you see that height and presence are not external but the frame of your own awareness. To dwell on high is to hold a vantage point from which nothing is outside your notice, and humility is simply the willingness to behold with love rather than defensiveness. The verse invites you to harmonize power with tenderness, sovereignty with service, so that your life becomes a sanctuary where heaven and earth meet. Practice the assumed state of the I AM looking with calm eyes on all that is. As you persist, you will find your outer life aligning with the inner vision you have already embraced.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes; assume the I AM as the observer dwelling on high, seeing heaven and earth from above. Feel the humility of awareness; in that feel-it-real, declare I AM within, beholding all as my own.
