Biblical Context
The psalm proclaims that with God's help we can act valiantly. It also emphasizes that God himself sustains our strength and defeats our foes.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of this verse as a statement of your inner state. Through God I shall do valiantly; for He it is that treads down my enemies. The I AM within me is the field in which strength is awakened. The enemies are not merely external foes but the restless movements of fear, doubt, and habit that rise in consciousness. When I acknowledge Providence as guiding every step, I invite the Spirit to perform the courageous acts I desire. In Neville's terms, I revise the inner scene until the feeling of the wish fulfilled is real in my chest. I do not strive against things outside; I let the inner fact of God as awareness do the conquering. As I persist in the feeling of right action being led, safe, and supported, my circumstances reflect a valiant life and the appearance of victory over obstacles. If I imagine the victory already achieved, the enemy disappears as a memory, and the day becomes a stage on which God accomplishes through me.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and claim: I am the I AM; through God I act valiantly. Dwell in the feeling of being led by divine guidance and notice a shift in your mood and surroundings.
