The fire that lights the night is the light of your imagination, the vivid image by which you discern what is possible and what is already inevitable in your life. This Psalm invites you to dwell in the truth that Providence accompanies every moment when you inhabit the inner atmosphere of calm and luminous intention. When you acknowledge you are the I AM, you invite the cloud to shade you from despair and the fire to reveal the next step as you turn toward it in imagination. Covenant loyalty is the recognizing of your own divine source—not a past event, but a living, present relationship you renew by inward conviction. In such a state, you walk the night as if it were day, because your inner light precedes and makes possible the outer results you seek.
