Biblical Context
Psalm 103:11-13 presents God's mercy as vast as the heavens, forgiving our sins as far as the east is from the west, and the Lord's fatherly pity toward those who fear Him.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your inner world already holds the truth of these lines. When you imagine mercy as a height above your ordinary awareness, you begin to see yourself through the lens of the I AM that fears nothing. The distance between east and west is the distance between your old guilt and your present conviction; as you dwell in the feeling that you are forgiven, the memory of wrongdoing falls away from your inner screen as if it never existed. The fatherly pity spoken of is not a judgment from outside but your own tenderness toward the child within you who trembles. To incarnate this, you must act as if the Father is now mindful of you—your thoughts, your needs, your future—guided by a benevolent, constant care. In this sense, mercy is not future event but the state you enter in awareness; forgiveness is the revision of your inner record; the bonds you call guilt dissolve in the light of your safe, intimate relationship with the I AM.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the sensation 'I am forgiven' as your current reality; dwell there for a few breaths, see the memory of guilt fade. Then carry that state into the day, revising any self-judgment by affirming 'It is done; I am free.'
