Trees by Rivers of Water

Psalms 1:2-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Psalms 1 in context

Scripture Focus

2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Psalms 1:2-6

Biblical Context

The righteous delight in the LORD's instruction and meditate on it continually; they become rooted and fruitful, while the ungodly fade away.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this psalm, the law is not a scroll to be studied, but a state of consciousness. You are the I AM, and delight in the law means you joyfully align your inner world with its truth. To meditate day and night is to refuse to leave that state, to dwell in the sense of already having, being, and doing in harmony with divine order. Picture yourself as a tree planted by living waters, drawing sustenance from the inner stream of life. Each season you bear fruit because your inner conviction remains unshaken; nothing external can wither your leaf when you are consciously nourished by timeless law. The contrast with the chaff shows what happens when you surrender the inner discipline; you drift with the wind of circumstance. The LORD knowing the way of the righteous is the quiet assurance that your path is known by your own I AM; you walk not by sight but by inner recognition. When you practice from this inside-out awareness, prosperity becomes a natural byproduct of living in the truth of who you are.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, imagine you as the tree by the rivers of water; feel the nourishment flowing to every part of you. Assume the feeling: I am prospering now; rest in that truth for a few minutes and watch your next moment reflect it.
