Awake Now: Proverbs 6:9-11

Proverbs 6:9-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 6 in context

Scripture Focus

9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
Proverbs 6:9-11

Biblical Context

Laziness invites poverty; sleep invites lack. Wakefulness and decisive action invite provision.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your true I AM is awake here and now, and the sluggard is a habit of mind, a denial of your creative power. The verse is not about body-labour alone; it reveals the inner movement: sleep becomes resignation, resignation becomes poverty. When you identify with this inner state, the world echoes poverty like a traveler in need. Yet you can reverse by choosing a new state of consciousness: imagine yourself as already awake, entirely purposeful, and feeling the reality of that state until it becomes your lived experience. The warning of 'an armed man' becomes the bold guard at your inner gates—fear, delay, and disbelief defending your old pattern. Refuse their entry. Take one practical act from your newly revived state today, and let that act move with the certainty of a dream fulfilled. Wealth and provision arise not from luck but from the consistent occupancy of the awakened I AM, which creates worlds in form and perception.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling of wakefulness now; declare, 'I arise now and act with purpose.' Then take one concrete step today toward your goal.
