Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jealousy is depicted as a fierce inner fire that cannot be appeased by gifts. The 'day of vengeance' arrives when this inner state is active, and no ransom satisfies it.
Neville's Inner Vision
Jealousy, in this passage, is not a neighbor’s action but a state of consciousness you entertain. When you believe you are lacking, the ego flares into a demand for payback—a private law that declares you must get even. The 'day of vengeance' is the moment your mind enforces that decree, as if the world must repay an injury. Yet gifts, no matter how many, cannot reach the root unless you revise the inner situation. Neville would have you remember that imagination is the sole creator of experience. Return to the I AM, the unbounded awareness that is complete in itself, and see the other as an aspect of your own consciousness, not a rival. In that light, offer no ransom to an illusion of scarcity; instead, cultivate abundance, justice, and generosity as the living state you inhabit. When you insist that you are one with all, the fiery energy of jealousy cools, and vengeance dissolves into the peace of a unified Self.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare, I AM the all; I want nothing outside to be complete. Then envision the other as a reflection of your own consciousness and feel abundance replacing the urge to retaliate.
