Biblical Context
The verse says that seeking one’s own glory is not true glory. Real wisdom comes from humility and aligning with the inner I AM rather than chasing outward praise.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe that honey signifies the sweetness of praise and outward success. To eat much honey is to indulge the ego beyond measure; so too, to search one’s own glory is to worship self-image rather than the living I AM within. In this landscape of consciousness, glory is not a trophy to be earned in the eyes of others but the natural radiance of the I AM when unburdened by self-importance. When you fix your attention on being seen, you scatter your power into the noise of opinion and mistake temporary approval for eternal presence. The moment you refuse to use others as mirrors for your self-worth, you return to your true nature: the indwelling God-consciousness that cannot be diminished by praise or cut off by neglect. Practice seeing that you are the I AM here and now: imagine you are already the serene, unassuming consciousness through which life moves; let your acts express that inner dignity without signaling for acclaim. Your glory, therefore, is not inflated by acclaim but distilled into the clarity of being.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of humble inner glory: close your eyes, breathe, and silently declare, 'I am the I AM, and I need no outward glory to prove me.' Then revise any urge to boast into 'I am the glory of God in action' and feel that as real.
