Biblical Context
Proverbs 25:16-17 teaches self-restraint: savor only what serves you, avoid excess, and keep visits to a neighbor brief. Excess honey and lingering visits erode goodwill and invite weariness.
Neville's Inner Vision
YOU are the I AM, and the honey is the sweetness of a life well-ordered within. The present verse asks you to taste only what nourishes, not to gorge upon another's supply or to overstay in another's space. When you eat beyond measure, you do not gain life; you dissipate it, and the other’s heart grows weary, perhaps even resentful. The neighbor's house becomes a symbol of relationship, not a place to harvest approval. In your imagination, assume a state of fullness—gratitude, clarity, secure boundaries—so your presence is a blessing rather than a burden. See yourself depart with grace before fatigue arises, leaving warm regard intact. As you persist in this inner stance, your outer world rearranges itself: the boundary is gentle, the exchange is joyful, and love is reinforced by restraint. Remember, the act of withdrawing is not a denial of connection, but a correction of how your state of consciousness relates to another.
Practice This Now
Assume you have found honey and are satisfied with enough for today; revise any urge to linger. Then, in imagination, quietly leave your neighbor's doorstep and feel the lightness of healthy boundaries and renewed goodwill.
