Biblical Context
Proverbs 21:1–2 states that the heart is directed by the LORD, while people imagine their ways to be right; God weighs the motives of the heart.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture in your mind that the term king stands for your own will and choices. The 'hand of the LORD' is the I AM within you, turning that will like rivers of water to any course you desire. The verse does not praise fate from without, but reveals that awareness itself is moving your life. When you feel a decision arising, recognize it as a movement of consciousness rather than a stubborn external circumstance, and realize that your inner governor can turn it whithersoever you will. The second verse warns you that the surface sense of rightness—the belief that you have correctly chosen—belongs to appearance; the LORD weighs hearts, i.e., your deepest motives. So shift your state of consciousness to one that trusts the divine direction of your inner being. Practicing this causes providence to unfold as you intend, not because you struggle against the world, but because you align with your true nature. Be still, assume the state of alignment, and watch the outer world respond to your inward decree.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume: The I AM directs my heart to turn as it will. Feel the inner river of life bending toward your desired course and let that feeling be real.
